Women are still underrepresented in positions of scientific power. A glass ceiling, made up of all kinds of obstacles (such as motherhood, balancing family life, gender discrimination, male bias in selecting candidates, and many others), has been used to justify the low visibility of women in top positions within the scientific hierarchy.
But is that all? Could it be that women are less capable than men? That we lack the skills for science? At least, that’s what some say. Or is there something else we’re missing?
This conference is an invitation for all of us to open new theses, new threads to pull in order to unravel the complex web that makes up the role of women in science. Because perhaps that’s what it’s about: finding new roles, new identities that exalt feminine values and allow women to reach the highest ranks in science, which are currently dominated by men.
And in this attempt, perhaps theater can help us create new scenarios where feminine values are appreciated in the scientific career.
