About perfumes, scents, and odors

Based on the literary work Perfume by Patrick Süskind, we will embark on a journey through scents (fragrances, perfumes, odors) and pheromones, our naturally occurring odor molecules. The story will serve as a foundation for exploring the importance of smell in our lives, as a sign of identity and a determinant of our physiology and behavior. All of this will be intertwined with the findings of Linda D.B. Buck on odor receptors and the organization of the olfactory system, which earned her the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2004.
