Synopsis

How do we communicate with others? What is language? How does this ability develop throughout our lives? And what should we do when this ability is compromised?

We are social beings, and language seems to have emerged from our need to connect with others. Language is something distinctive to humans, and evolution has equipped our brains to develop this ability to its fullest, facilitating the creation and establishment of our complex societies.

However, our capacity to communicate began millions of years ago, long before language, through gestures, sounds, and body expression. A type of communication that still today constitutes more than 70% of our communication skills.

Non-verbal communication goes beyond language and the attempt to emphasize what we say. It is also a powerful channel of communication that allows us to express what moves us beyond the meaning of words. It transcends labels and categories and frees us to express who we truly are at our core. And here, infinite possibilities open up: anything that can be perceived by our senses and transmitted through our body serves this purpose.
